Sound healing

Q: Masters, I have seen a lot of articles concerning healing circles using sound. Opportunities to engage in all of these seem to be proliferating—why now? Could you please tell me what the various qualities are of drumming, singing bowls, tuning forks, chanting, mantras, and music in general?
A: We would first like to mention the “healing circle” concept and the power that it creates. Whenever you have a group with a central intention, such as the healing of a particular client or the balancing out of a situation, the energy the group generates is much stronger than the sum of the individual parts. This combined effort has the ability to move mountains, as any recipient of a group healing, who participated with total openness and acceptance, can acclaim.
To understand the effect that musical vibrations have upon the human body you need only remember that the human body is mostly water. Take a bowl of water and blow softly across the surface and it will ripple and pulsate to the flow of your breath on the surface. If you float on a wavy body of water such as a pool, lake, or ocean, every molecule of your body is aware of the movement.
Music creates sound waves that are felt by the body and have the effect of balancing or disrupting the tissue. Kidney stones may be broken up while inside the kidney by the application of sound waves that cause the stones, made out of minerals, to disintegrate.
The chakras, the major energy centers within the body, each vibrate to a different tone. Using a singing bowl, tuning fork, or musical note produced by an instrument, can cause the chakra to vibrate in synchronization with that frequency, which balances the flow of energy throughout that section of the body. Each chakra is closely associated with glands, and balancing the chakra has an impact upon the associated glandular system.
Mantras and chanting can produce a multitude of vibrations that clear, balance, connect, and carry intentions. Drumming causes a vibration that can approximate the rhythm of Mother Earth. It is very calming, and it is possible to float upon the sound and have a fantastic meditative trip. You are hearing more about all of this now because people no longer fear what they don’t completely understand and are willing to accept anything that might be of assistance to them.
